If you have Long travel or mid travel on a Chevy you are at risk to breaking you steering rack in half. When going through the whoops you are putting a massive amount of force from both sides into the rack. The rack doesn’t have enough strength to withstand these forces so they bend in the middle and break where the cast housing meets the tube. This will ruin your day or trip.
The brace is a very simple design, it just adds more rigidity to the middle section of the rack. So far to our knowledge nobody has snapped a rack after adding the rack brace. Now let’s face the facts, this is strictly a band aid fix for pre runners, not for full race applications where you need swing set or full hydro.
Easy install at about an hour. Comes with hardware. Pics show it is painted black but they are raw. Due to all the part stores and online rebuilding them, they will vary slightly. Minor mods may need to performed by you if a casting spot is different. It was designed around an OEM rack not aftermarket.
We recommend getting your current rack rebuilt at Benchwork Steering Systems in Scottsdale AZ before you install the brace.
* Pictured is a painted version, these come raw metal.
